FAQ

Is Bilargo Exit free?

The core photo-check routine is free: one active checklist, unlimited checks with photo confirmations, and your check history. Bilargo Exit Pro is optional and is not required for daily checking.

What does Pro include, and how is it sold?

Pro is one set of features, sold in three ways — a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a lifetime one-time purchase. All three unlock exactly the same things:

Is there a free trial?

Yes — 7 days free, on the yearly plan only, if your Apple Account is eligible for an introductory offer (the app shows the trial only when Apple confirms eligibility). Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the trial turns into a paid yearly subscription. The monthly plan and the lifetime purchase have no trial.

How do I cancel a Pro subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or the App Store app — the same place shows whether your subscription (or trial) is still active and when it renews. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your data stays on your iPhone. If Pro expires, extra lists remain saved but locked, while your most recently used list stays active — you can still edit it, run checks on it and view your history. The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and has nothing to cancel.

How do I restore purchases?

Use Restore Purchases in the app (on the paywall screen). Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account that was used for the purchase.

Do my photos leave my device?

New photos are saved in the App’s private storage on your iPhone. Photos can leave your iPhone when you share or export them yourself, and a device backup you set up in iOS also copies the App’s data. There is no Bilargo server or account.

How long are completed checks kept?

Unpinned completed checks and their photos are kept for 30 days by default. In Settings → History & Storage, you can choose 7, 30, or 90 days, or Never (Never means no automatic deletion). Cleanup runs when the app launches — after shortening the period, older checks disappear at the next launch. Protected checks are never removed by automatic cleanup.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Checklists, photo checks, and history all work with no network connection. Internet access is needed only for Apple purchase flows.

Does the app use AI?

No. Bilargo Exit contains no AI features and sends nothing to any AI service.

Why does the app ask for location permission?

Only for the optional leaving-home reminder: the app registers your saved home region with iOS geofencing so it can nudge you when you leave. This happens entirely on your device — the app never sends your location to us or anyone else. If you don't use reminders, the app never asks.

Why does the app ask for camera or photo-library permission?

Camera access is optional and requested when you first use the camera for confirmation or reference photos. For an item that needs no photo, use Without photo. For a photo item, use I can't take a photo right now, or Manual when the camera is unavailable. These record a check without a photo; Skip leaves the item unchecked. To choose a reference from Photos, the app opens the system photo picker and receives only the image you select; it does not request access to your whole library.

Can I return to skipped items after finishing?

Yes. On a partial summary, Review Skipped takes you through the items that were skipped when you started that review. Taking a photo, marking manually, or skipping again advances through that set once. Finish Anyway keeps the partial result. Back to checking reopens the same check for wider changes.

What happens when I remove an item from the check summary?

Choose Edit checklist on the summary. Removing an item and saving removes it from this check's result and from future checks. You can undo the removal before saving; earlier completed checks keep their records. The summary counts and a newly shared summary card reflect the saved change. A card you already shared remains a separate copy and is not updated.

Can I filter Today to unfinished checks?

With more than one unlocked list and at least one check in progress, Today shows an In progress filter with the number of matching lists. Choose it to show unfinished checks. If no lists match, choose Show all. A filter selected before Pro expires can remain selected in Free, but it does not unlock additional lists.

Can I use it when leaving a vacation rental?

Yes — that's a core use case. Run a check when you arrive to document the condition you found (including any existing damage), and again when you leave to document the condition you left behind. Each check is timestamped. The app does not assess or certify the condition — these are your own timestamped photos; what they mean in a dispute is for the parties and the law to decide (see Terms, 5.3).

What happens after Erase All Data?

Erase All Data permanently deletes every local checklist, check, and photo from this iPhone; your Pro purchase is kept. This action cannot be undone. Afterwards the app returns to the welcome screen. Copies you already shared and device backups are separate.

How do I review or compare photos?

After answering the last item, Review Photos shows your results by place. Switch between List and Grid, expand or collapse groups, and use Show references in the grid. Correct returns to an item without losing your place in the review; viewing a photo alone does not change its result. Choose Finish Check when ready. A checked item, a skipped item and an item without an answer remain distinct.

History has the same list and grid layouts. Tap a photo to zoom, then choose its source. Current reference means the reference on the list now, which may differ from the one that existed at the time of the check. An omitted backup photo is labelled separately from an unavailable or unreadable photo. On the completion screen, expand More… if additional actions are folded away.

How do I share or import a list?

With Pro, use Share list in a list’s menu or editor. An Exit file preserves the list structure and appearance and can include reference photos. Text / TXT contains only the list name and item titles. To import text, put the list name on the first non-empty line and one item on each following line; a leading - is optional.

Open Import list and choose a file or paste text, then inspect the preview. You can create a New list, Append items, or Replace contents of a chosen list. Replacing requires confirmation, preserves History, and offers a separate choice to apply the appearance from the file. Undo remains available until you close the import result; it cannot overwrite newer changes.

What is included in a backup?

Open Settings → Backup · Pro → Export backup. Choose whether to include history and checks in progress, reference photos, and check photos. The preview shows included and omitted categories. Restore backup can add selected lists and their references while keeping current history and global settings, or Replace app data after confirmation. Replacement removes existing categories that the backup omitted, so read the preview before confirming.

The limit is 100 MB per file and 10 MB per photo. The app does not remove photos automatically to fit. Files with invalid, missing or damaged declared content are rejected. A backup transfers supported app preferences; it does not grant Pro or transfer the saved home location and permissions. Keep exported files safe: they are separate copies outside the App and are not password-encrypted by Exit.

Why did the widget stop showing a check in progress?

After one hour without an answer to an item, the widget stops presenting the check as in progress. This does not delete it: you can resume it in Today. On launch, the app removes unprotected unfinished checks that began at least 24 hours ago.

An optional leaving-home reminder uses a separate 10-minute grace period after the last answer. If iOS later reports that you left the home area and the check is still unfinished, the notification can invite you to finish that check. It is not a timer that fires exactly ten minutes later, and iOS may delay or omit delivery.

Troubleshooting

My Pro purchase is not active

Try:

Leaving-home reminders don't fire

Reminders depend on iOS location services and are best-effort by design. Check that:

iOS may still delay or skip region events; do not rely on reminders as your only safeguard.

A confirmation photo didn't save

Make sure the device has free storage and the app has camera permission, then try again. If the issue continues, contact support with your device model and iOS version.

Support and update policy

How long you get updates. We provide compatibility, security and conformity updates for as long as required by applicable law, including the duties that may apply under Directive (EU) 2019/770. We do not add a separate fixed 24-month promise. Available updates are delivered through the App Store.

Which iOS versions. Bilargo Exit is an iPhone App with a current minimum of iOS 18.0. The current App Store listing and each update state the compatible system versions. The App can also run on a compatible iPad in iPhone compatibility mode; there is no native iPad version.

How updates reach you. Through the App Store — automatically if you have automatic app updates switched on, or manually from the App Store at any time. There is no other channel: Bilargo Exit is distributed only through the App Store.

Security fixes. Report a vulnerability to support@bilargo.com; the contact addresses are also published in our security.txt. Security fixes are delivered as App Store updates, within the same update period as everything else.

When the legally required update period ends. The app does not stop working and a lifetime purchase does not expire. We simply stop promising new fixes for that purchase. If a paid major upgrade ever exists, it will be optional and announced in advance.

Response times for support. We aim to answer support email within 3 business days. Bilargo is one person, so please include your iOS version, app version, and what you did before the problem appeared.
